Autumn Leaves
Take in the maple leaves at Wakayama Castle just as its feudal lords once did. Wakayama was a strategic outpost of the Tokugawa Shogunate (1603 - 1868). Tokugawa Yorinobu (1602 - 1671), the tenth son of the first Shogun (Tokugawa Ieyasu) built this castle after he became lord of Wakayama in 1619. The Kii Tokugawa was the second of the three cadet branches of the Shogunal family, and the fifth most powerful feudal lords in Japan.

Looks can be deceiving. Beneath the unsightly appearance of the longtooth grouper, is a beautifully white, fatty flesh and a rich, refined flavor. Expect to see this fish, along with sea bream, featuring prominently on the autumn menu.
